Imphal, October 30 2012:
In an age where most people tend to think and work only for 'themselves' instead of thinking for the whole community, it is very essential for us to bring back the idea of oneness among ourselves, Home Minister Gaikhangam has exclaimed.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the gift exchange programme facilitated among the people of the hills and the plains as a part of Mera Houchongba celebration.
The event was organized by Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board at Haying Khongbal Tolong Yumpham today.
Gaikhangam observed that the bond of love among the people of hills and plains can only be strengthened and the integrity of the state safeguarded if we continue to cherish the bond of brotherhood and feel that we all are one no matter what.
He also pointed out the need to enlighten the people of the state that the crumbling bond of love among the different communities in the state could be revived through Sanamahism.

"This day also reminds us of the time when both the people of the hills and plains were following Sanamahi religion.
So, it is high time to ensure observance of Mera Houchongba on a broader and wider scale throughout the state", the Home Minister exhorted.
Former Minister Dr RV Minthing, who was also present on the occasion as one of the Guests of Honour, observed that the feeling of hatred and distrust is increasing among the different communities settling in the state.
The matter is not only confined among the people of the hills and the plains but also among other sections of the people living in the plains and the hills.
He also pointed out that the bond of love and brotherhood among the hill and the valley people has declined considerably on account of religious influences from outside.
In order to save the people of the state from further disintegration and to revive the lost love, we need to remember Sanamahism.
Presided over by L Jayentakumar, President of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, the gift exchange programe was attended among others by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj as well.
