Beneficiaries demand release of pending NFSA rice

Aggrieved with the non-distribution of rice under the National Food Security Act (NFS A) for eight months, Youth Progressive Organisation (YPO) organised a sit-in protest at Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai today.
The protestors displayed placards with writings such as "Distribute NFSA rice every month", "Non-release of NFSA rice is public exploitation", "State Government should address the rice issue swiftly" etc.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Boby Rani, a ration card holder, said that beneficiaries of Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency, Polling Station No 4/22, Shop No 99 have not received NFSA rice for 8 months from January to August 2024.She asserted that despite the assurance given earlier by the District Supply Officer to begin distribution of rice from September 2024, the pending NFSA rice have not been released till date.
Denouncing the non-re-lease of NFSA rice for 8 months, she urged the State Government to tackle the issue and ensure that people receive their due share of ration for the aforementioned months.
YPO advisor Syed Fazlur Rahman also urged the Government to facilitate swift release of all pending NFSA rice to the beneficiaries of the areas under the jurisdiction of YPO .
