Imphal, February 28 2016: Irate locals of Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association (LKYDA) and local Meira Paibis rounded up a member of vehicle lifter gang from his residence at Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai last night around 8.30 pm.

Part of a stolen moped Honda Activa Registration Number MN-O1Z 5038 was recovered from hi.

He was later handed over to Heingang police station.

Wakambam Rohen (19) s/o W Shyam was caught by member of LKYDA.

Rohen and his associates Pintu of Kwakeithel stole the moped from Imphal War Cemetery on Feb 26 evening.

Another associate Rakesh from Lamlong helped with the transportation of the stolen vehicle, claimed members of LKYDA.

Secretary of LKYDA Ng Rakeshwor stated that the stolen vehicle was registered in the name of one Mayengbam Rasheswori of Imphal West when verified.

Further, he stated that the vehicle lifters had plans to sell off parts of the vehicles at Hatta.

LKYDA warned of stringent punishment against those involved in such activities in future.
