Irate locals storm Court complex

Angry locals and womenfolk stormed Thoubal Court complex today, demanding befitting punishment of a 41 year old individual who had allegedly attempted to rape a married woman on June 18 at Khangabok Makha Leikai Part III, under Thoubal Police Station.
The individual identified as Moirangthem Sobha (41) s/o Munal of Khangabok Makha Leikai was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal today and remanded to six days in police custody till July 2.A large number of angry locals and womenfolk gathered at Thoubal Court complex after getting information that Sobha would be produced before the Court by Thoubal Women PS in connection with the case.
According to a reliable source, Sobha had been on the run since June 18, after allegedly committing the crime before he was arrested by a team of Thoubal women police led by OC Kiranbala last night.
The angry locals and womenfolk stormed Thoubal Court complex when the accused was brought by Thoubal women police and tried to attack him but their attempts were thwarted by the police personnel.
Later, the individual was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate along with a prayer for further police custody remand.
The 10 submitted that the alleged victim of the case had lodged a written complaint to Women PS Thoubal on June 19, stating that the previous day, at around 11 pm, when her husband left to watch football world cup at their local club, Sobha came to her bedroom and allegedly tried to rape her.
The victim began shouting and upon hearing her shout, her husband's younger brother came running inside her room after which a scuffle took place and the accused was forced outside from her room.
However he managed to escape and fled from the spot.
The accused has been absconding before he was arrested yesterday night.
The IO further submitted that during preliminary interrogation, Sobha admitted to the offence and as such prayed for police custody remand of the accused.
The Court satisfied with the case record remanded the accused to police custody for six days till July 2 .
