Secretariat staff threaten to cease work

As the cease work strike called by Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) demanding implementation of 7th Pay in the State completed 66 days, employees of Department of Taxes and Treasury Office staged sit-in-protest supporting the demand of the JAC today.
On the other hand, following the half day cease work strike undertaken by the employees of Manipur Secretariat starting from May 23 till today, the employees of Manipur Secretariat North Block and South Block have threatened to completely cease all works from May 28.According to the working president of Manipur Secretariat Services Association M Iboyaima Meitei, employees of the Secretariat as well as employees of other departments which have their offices in the Secretariat will cease work from May 28 against the Government's failure to implement 7th Pay in the State despite repeated appeals.
He also appealed to officers working in the Secretariat to support the protest.
The cease work will continue until and unless the Government comes out with a solution to the demands of the employees, he added.
