NEFIS backs JAC's demand

Imphal, March 26 2018: North East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) has extended support to the striking employees and workers of the JAC of All Manipur Trade Unions Council and the All Manipur Government Employees Organisation who have been demanding implementation of 7th Pay in the State.

A press release issued by the convenor of NEFIS today claimed that out of all the States in which BJP is in power, Manipur is the only one where the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission have not been implemented.

It claimed that before elections, BJP made the promise of implementing 7th Pay in its vision document, but once it came to power, BJP claimed that higher pay cannot be implemented in Manipur due to lack of necessary resources.

Pointing out that the reasoning of the Government is surprising as vast public resource of the State are allegedly being siphoned off to corporates instead of being put to public use, NEFIS further condemned the attitude of the State Government and threatened to intensify its movement against the anti-people policies of the present Government.
