TPR dips below 2 pc, lowest since April 11

The daily test positivity rate of Covid-19 fell below 2 per cent on Thursday with government bulletins reporting only 24 new positive cases out of 1660 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate on Thursday was 1.45 per cent, which is lowest since April 11 this year, which reported 1.38 per cent positivity rate.
Meanwhile, Thursday also reported one death case and it took the total tally of fatalities to 1966.The victim was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal West district.
The active caseload came down to 687 out of which only 40 (5.82 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in different hospitals and Covid care facilities.
Out of the 16 districts, only nine reported fresh Covid cases on Thursday with Imphal West continuing to top with 8 infections.
In terms of positivity rate, Kakching district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 10.4 per cent while Imphal East district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.7 per cent.
Bishnupur, Chandel, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati and Thoubal districts did not report any new positive cases.
So far, the state has recorded 95,670 positive cases and 1592 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 1339 new positive cases and 45 death cases out of which 370 new cases and 10 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to Official reports, all the 24 new positive cases (12 male & 12 female) are from among the general population whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (2) and other testing centres (22).The positive cases are from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (8), Kakching (3), Churachandpur (1), Kamjong (3), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Ukhrul (2) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 34 persons were discharged from home isolation (10), RIMS (1), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (18) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,070 (general population - 1,20,647 and CAPF personnel - 4,423) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,22,417 (general population - 1,18,065 and CAPF personnel - 4,352) and number of active cases is 687 (general population - 621 and CAPF personnel - 66) .
The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.
A total of 280 D-type and 105 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
With the administration of 4778 vaccine doses on Wednesday, the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has risen to 12,73,906 out of which 8,48,592 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,796), Imphal East (27,752), Thoubal (9473), Churachandpur (10,176), Kangpokpi (2786), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9199), Senapati (2241), Ukhrul (2989), Kakching (6432), Chandel (2354), Noney (1073), Tengnoupal (1076), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (953) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (655), Imphal East (469), Thoubal (176), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (192), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (43), Kakching (113), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,306 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,694 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,54,750 tests per million population against the national average of 4,54,576 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1660 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 1.45 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 8.86 per cent.
