Public hearing on Re-organisation of District Boundary

Another round of public hearing of the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police District Boundary was held today where representatives of two different organisations gave their views and opinions on creation of Sadar Hills district and re-adjustment of district boundaries.
All Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum, Chandel appealed the committee headed by the Chief Secretary to keep tribal villages of Sugnu and Pallel areas within Chandel district and not to bring them under Thoubal district, conveyed spokesman of the forum Thanglet Haokip.
Pointing out the tribal villages of Sugnu and Pallel though included in Chandel district are under the jurisdiction of Pallel and Sugnu police stations, representatives of the forum appealed to establish a separate police station for these tribal villages.
They also demanded transfer of agricultural fields located in Pallel and Sugnu areas to Chandel district for which taxes are currently paid to Thoubal district.
Representatives of the Demand Committee on Upgradation of Pherzawl ADC to DC who participated in the public hearing demanded upgradation of ADC Pherzawl to the status of a DC .
