Imphal, September 25 2019:
India will never succeed in working out a community based solution to the Naga people's demand for a greater Nagaland and Kuki people's aspiration to create an exclusive homeland, said Chaoren and added that demanding community-based independence will certainly mean creating more enemies because their demand cannot be appropriated within the neighbouring States which have well defined boundaries.
The RPF chief further said that these days, different communities live within the territories of neighbouring countries as bonafide citizens.
If these communities work to create a country of their own out of the country where they are living, there will be no place on earth which would be free from conflicts.
No country assumes such independence movement as worthy of extending support.
Even after knowing this fact well, India has been deceiving the Naga people as well as Kuki people to believe in falsehoods with an evil intention to use the armed groups as tools for creating animosity among different communities living together in Manipur, added the statement.
Citing examples, the RPF leader said the world has seen how Kurds who settle in four countries tried to create Kurdistan or greater Kurdistan, a country of their own and how the aspiration of Kurdish Nationalists crashed miserably.
Later the Kurds shifted their allegiance to the countries where they have been living.
The vigorous campaigns for Greater Serbia and Greater Croatia led to the biggest war in Europe after the Second World War which entailed huge casualties.
Later many leaders of Serbia and Croatia including Bosnian Serbs and Croats were punished as war criminals.
This is something which Naga leaders and Kuki leaders must keep in mind, said the outfit and added thatthe demand of some Naga militant groups to form a united country of all Nagas by carving out a considerable portion of Manipur's territory would be unacceptable to the people of Manipur.
People of Manipur, particularly who believe in the idea of a united, pluralistic Manipur, will never support the demand, said Chaoren and added that even conflicts may arise between them and those people who support sectarian politics or ethnic-based political aspirations.
This will bring a very restive situation in Manipur with different groups confronting each other.
To avoid such a situation, all the communities of Manipur need to nurture the idea of a collective Manipur, unite and work collectively to liberate Manipur from the colonial yoke, asserted Chaoren.
The RPF leader also cautioned that it would be disastrous for Manipur in future if the people continue to depend on policies and programmes formulated by India instead of being dutiful.
In order to ward off such a sorry state and save Manipur, it is crucial for all to shoulder responsibilities and perform their National duties to the best level, exhorted Chaoren and added that a vast majority of the people have been living with their attention focused on personal growth and prosperity by totally overlooking all social responsibilities thus aggravating the condition of society.
The issue of influx has indeed become a very serious one but it also important to question who brought all these non-indigenous people to Manipur and who provided them means of livelihood, said Chaoren.
To appeal to the government of India to enact a law or policy which would serve the interest of Manipur or complaining to New Delhi to amend a law or policy enacted for the whole country to suit the interest of Manipur smacks of a dependency attitude, lamented the outfit.
Such attitude and notion will never help in tackling the alarming situation unfolding in the Manipuri society today.
