Joint Students Co-ordination Committee formed

A Joint Students Co-ordination Committee (JSCC) of six student bodies namely AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, SUK and SWAK, has been formed and various dos and don'ts to be followed by students inside educational institutions worked out.
Talking to mediapersons in this regard at the office of Manipuri Students' Federation at Konjeng Hajari Leikai today, A Thoithoi, member of JSCC, said that the committee has been formed in order to strengthen the agitation of student bodies to bring about quality education in the state.
The committee was formed in a joint meeting of the six student bodies on June 13 at AMSU headquarters.
Accordingly Ng Milan, President of MSF has been appointed as the Convener and Santosh Lai, Vice President of SUK as the Treasurer.
Besides 10 others have also been appointed as members of the committee, he informed.
Thoithoi announced that JSCC would be taking up certain steps for the betterment of Manipuri society in general and student community in particular.
To reduce the impacts of drugs in Manipuri society, use and sale of drugs and alcohol inside the campuses of educational institutions would be prohibited and mobile phones would be banned inside the class rooms.
The Committee would put in place strict rules regarding dress code in educational institutions.
Accordingly, all the students should come in full uniform to attend their classes.
Female students from class XI to College level should wear 'Phanek' and full sleeve collar shirts in the right manner, Thoithoi said, and added that the Committee also informed the teachers to check and ensure that the students follow the rules.
Thoithoi announced that the Committee would be conducting inspection drive in schools and colleges very soon.
Students who are found acting against the rules set by the Committee will be dealt with seriously and any untoward arising out of it will be their sole responsibility.
He further appealed to the parents, NGOs, clubs and organizations to give co-operation and support in this regard.
