Leishemba Sanajaoba assures help in establishing heritage park at Kharam Pallen

Titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba has assured that he will extend all possible help in setting up of a heritage park and erecting a statue of Maichou Kharam Thadoi at Kharam Pallen under Saitu AC in Kangpokpi district .
Speaking as chief guest (for day two) at the ongoing 7th Kharam Students' Cultural Conference cum Sports Meet 2018, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that Kharam Pallen is closely related to the history of the State.
He said that the Kharam community despite having a small population numbering around 2000 has been contributing towards the betterment of the State.
He maintained that Kharam Thadoi was one of the Maichous also referred as Pandits/scholars who were well-acquainted with the religious activities/rituals and knew in-depth about the building of a State.

Leishemba Sanajaoba said that as the titular king of Manipur, it is his bounden responsibility to erect a statue of Maichou Kharam Thadoi in honour of the latter's notable contributions and sacrifices.
He opined that there would be a significant inflow of tourists at Kharam Pallen if a heritage park is set up at the village.
He also assured that the Chief Minister will be apprised of the initiatives and will be conveyed about a memorandum submitted to the CM through him.
He acknowledged the Kharam community for maintaining its age-old tradition and culture.
He appealed to the community to take a lead role in protecting the territorial integrity of the State from all potential threats.
Taking part in the event, former president of Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) Nongthombam Rajendro (Boy) shared his journey to around 400 villages in the hill districts for reconciliation.
He assured that he will also provide assistance in setting up of the proposed heritage park and erecting a statue of Maichou Kharam Thadoi at the village.
He stressed on the need to provide an opportunity to the people particularly students and sports players from both the hills and valley to discuss about reconciliation and organise educational activities in such events.
Principal cum administrator of Eklavya Mission Residential School, Saparmeina, Dr Ngamkhohao Haokip and secretary general of Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Nameirakpam Adison also attended the occasion as guest of honour and special invitee respectively.
The 7th Kharam Students' Cultural Conference cum Sports Meet 2018 will conclude on January 26.Performance of cultural dances and songs and organising competition in different sports are the main highlights of the event.
