UNC welcomes MHA's letter, suspends stir till Feb 6

United Naga Council (UNC) has suspended all its agitational programmes till February 6, the time the first ever dialogue on 'alternative arrangement' at political level will be held at Senapati.
The UNC said today that the resumption of the agitation will depend on the outcome of the February 6 talk involving the Manipur government, the UNC and the Government of India.
The decision to suspend stir till February 6 was taken after a joint emergency meeting of UNC) and other Naga frontal organisations today.
After serious deliberation on the letter of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India forwarded to UNC on January 22, the meeting also decided to welcome the latter's communication for holding the 7th round of tripartite talk on the demand for alternative arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur at the political level at Senapati on February 6 .
"In reciprocation and in respect for the democratic process of dialogue, the meeting decided to put in abeyance the scheduled civil actions resolved upon in last meeting of January 16 till the completion of the next round of talk when appropriate positions would be decided depending on the outcome of the talk," the UNC stated in a statement issued by its Publicity Wing today.
The letter of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) forwarded to UNC said the state government of Manipur had consented to send its representatives at the talk to be held at the 'political level' .
In the letter was signed by S Saha, Deputy Secretary of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), UNC has been intimated to prepare for the 7th round of 'tripartite talks' involving the government of Manipur, New Delhi and the Naga body for February 6 at Senapati district headquarters.
