Imphal, November 23 2012:
UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima has called upon all the communities in Manipur including Naga, Kuki, Meitei, Komrem, Meitei-Pangal and all others to unite and work together to bring development for all.
Meghen and 14 other cadres of the outfit were produced before the NIA court here today.
Speaking to the media while coming out of the court, Meghen said that as the Chairman of UNLF, he would like to salute and extend the message of peace and development to all the communities in Manipur on the occasion of 48th anniversary of UNLF.
Asserting that the age long heritage of Manipur has been stripped since it merged into the Union of India, Meghen maintained that for the last 63 years under the colonial rule of India, different communities of Western South East Asia (WeSEA) have been made to live along ethnic lines for their own interest, thus causing conflicts amongst the communities.
"In the absence of peace and harmony, there is uncertainty over the future generations.
So, we should dig out the root cause of all these conflicts together", the UNLF chief said.
He went on to assert that under the divide and rule policy of Indian Union, people have been separated into different classes such as schedule caste, schedule tribe, other backward classes, etc to encourage antagonism amongst the communities of the region.
Meghen observed that the campaign for individual rights in a multi ethnic state will result to conflicts.
The current GoI administration will never bring development and peace to the state of Manipur.
He also alleged that the conflict between the hill and valley people of Manipur has been brought by the ruling class of the state.
UNLF Chairman further said that 'it is understood that rising conflicts and disputes within the state is the role colonial system.
If we continue to exist under the Indian colonial system, peace is impossible in the region.
We as a human race and for sake of future generation must collectively stand out from this current Government and its system.
For our harmonic destiny of all the communities of WeSEA, we must respect each others' political and cultural identity and understand the need of symbiotic relationship.
WeSEAian must have a collective goal and common administration having autonomy at all level' .
Meghen said that domestic problems can be resolved by dialogues without interference and influence from outside.
