Mortal remains of Salouni brought home

The mortal remains of Akha Salouni, a 29-year old man from Karong (but originally from Tungjoy), Senapati district of Manipur, who was beaten to death in New Delhi, were brought to his home village Karong today.
At around 11:30 am, the mortal remains of Salouni arrived at Imphal Airport where a large number of people received the dead body.
Naga People's Organisation (NPO), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA), All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM), Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) and many well wishers paid floral tributes to late Akha Salouni at the airport.
Prayers were also pronounced by the church leaders.

Later, the mortal remains of Akha Salouni were taken to Senapati in a large convoy of vehicles arranged by civil organisations.
One Johnny Mao, a representative of North East Students Association, Delhi and Poumai Students Union, Delhi president Abraham told NNN at the airport that the students' bodies of North East region alone cannot thwart this racism in the mainland India against the North East people.
They urged both the politicians and civil bodies to support them in campaign against racism.
Akha Salouni was beaten to death by 5 persons in Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur on July 20 late night.
Akha Salouni worked earlier in a BPO.
Meanwhile, one of the most painful pictures of despair and sorrow over the loss of a young man in the hate crime perpetrated against people of Northeast origin in other parts of the country was witnessed when young students and senior citizens coming from different parts of Senapati district paid their last respect and homage to Akha Salouni during a condolence service cum funeral programme of the deceased young man at home village Karong later in the afternoon today.
The mourners were also seen holding placards reading "Delhite, stop racial discrimination"; "Delhi should not be a killing field for NE people"; "We strongly condemn the brutal killing of A.Salouni" during the mass condolence cum and funeral service attended by a large number of people including members and leaders of Naga Women's Union, NPO, SDWA, Poumai Naga Union, SDSA, ATSUM and ANSAM, Poumai Women's Union and local MLA Dr V Alexander Pao.
All those who spoke on the occasion called for ending hate crimes against people of Northweast origin in other parts of the country. MLA, Dr..VAlexander Pao while consoling the deceased parents said that 'their brave son died for the sake of NE community and that it is time we wake up by his death so that, such cases will not appear in the future" .
