Senapati, July 22 2014:
Naga People's Organization (NPO) today stated that despite repeated assurance in different occasion by Chief Minister and others to install the much awaited additional 5MVA power transformer at Karong power station, nothing has been done so far.
According to statement issued by the frontal body of Senapati District, it decried the non-fulfilment of promises made by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh during the inauguration of the District Session court at Senapati DHQ last year and an assurance given by CM's power advisor and former Chief Secretary Jarnial Singh, IAS during his visit to Karong power station on June 2, 2014 .
The apex body stated that despite repeated reminders to the department concerned and state agencies about the acute shortage of power supply in the District due to low capacity transformer installed at Karong, there were no positive response from the other end.
The NPO is peeved over such indifferent attitude of the Government and its department as the general public is reeling under poor power supply which is creating public outcry and numerous inconveniences, the statement said.
It also stated that with an insufficient capacity of the present transformer 5MVA, repeated requests to provide another equipment with the similar capacity were made but the department concerned did not give any heed.
