GTCC denies Gangte belongs to Mizo

CCpur, August 21 2019: The Gangte Tribe Coordination Committee has objected the allegations made by some people which stated that Gangte belongs to Mizo and that Mizoram is to the Gangtes as Jesrusalem is to the Jews, saying a few individuals (after disowning Gangte as their tribe identity and embracing Mizo) continues to interfere in the affairs of the Gangtes.

These people and their subversive, hypocritical activities are unacceptable, asserted Gangte Tribe Coordination Committee (GTCC) while seeking clarification as to why they have made such claims that Gangte belongs to Mizo, during an interview with a Mizoram based TV Channel.

It further asserted that the GTCC is the only mandated apex of the Gangte people as of now and added that no other individual or bodies other than the constituent organisations of the Committee � Gangte Tribe Union, Gangte Tribe Council, Gangte Students' Organisation, Gangte Youth Organisation, Gangte Literature Society, Gangte Custom and Culture Organisation, and Gangte Artiste Association - have the authority or mandate to speak on behalf of the Gangte tribe.

The press release issued by PK Gen Gangte, convenor maintained that individuals who subscribed membership of other tribe willingly and on their volition would no longer be considered as Gangte tribe members.

As such, those who have disowned Gangte as his or her inscriptive identity should not interfere in matters concerning the Gangte tribe and its members and any comments should not be made on the tribe from other tribal organisations' platforms, it warned.

Those who have openly renounced Gangte (a recognised tribe of Manipur) and embraced others as their tribe should no longer obtain tribe certificate or other documents in the name of Gangte henceforth, it added.
