Career counselling programme concludes

In a departure from routine and stereotyped career counselling programmes, a unique first of its kind initiative was undertaken by 31 Assam Rifles in Kamjong district titled "Carving Own Path through Self Discovery".
The event organised over two days on March 20 and 21 brought together a panel of 18 experts from diverse fields.
The children at the programme were given mind initiator questionnaire designed to bring out their self portrait and based on the self portrait, the panelists prepared their own assessment of the students focusing on strengths, weaknesses, capabilities and desires, said a statement issued by the IGAR South, Individual one on one sessions with young school children of classes 8 to 10 ensured that interaction was based on aspirations, aptitude and interests of the children.
305 students participated in the two day event.
Coming after an exhaustive exam season, the initiative bring together various stakeholders - the students, teachers, parents and members of the district administration to guide young children in their future steps, said the statement.
The overwhelming response was a reflection of the involvement and efforts of Assam Rifles in being a catalyst to community development in their much acknowledged role of 'Friends of the Hill People' and Sentinels of the North East, said the statement furhter.
