Ukhrul, March 21 2017: The Eastern Forest Division, Ukhrul observed 'World Forestry Day' in a simple function held today at the office's premise in Phungreitang, Ukhrul.

Speaking at the function, RO headquarters Ukhrul Phungreingam stated that the theme of the function was to observe 'Forest and Energy' and to create an opportunity for all the people to work together in preserving the forest and also to partake in planting trees in their respective areas or forests.

He further highlighted the important roles of trees and added that forest destruction or exploitation should be reduced in order to ensure ecological balance and sustainable human generation.

As a part of the observation, the department staff distributed pamphlets to the people.
