Awareness prog on role of pharmacists held

A one day awareness programme on the role of pharmacists in controlling and selling of drugs in consonance with the healthcare of the community was held at the conference hall of Chief Medical Officer, Senapati on Wednesday.
The awareness programme was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Senapati Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, Medical Directorate (Health Services) drug inspector Y Ronen Singh, State Pharmacy Council president Rk Basumani, Senapati District Registered Pharmacists' Association member Elozia A and Senapati drug inspector Serto Pinky Kom among others.
Speaking during the programme, Y Ronen explained to the gathering about the importance of correct dosages of medicines and role of pharmacists in eradicating dreaded disease like Tuberculosis and further informed about various penalties including prison term and monetary fines that may be imposed for opening pharmacy without licence under relevant Act.
Addressing the gathering, Serto Pinky Kom appealed to all the pharmacy owners to remain in legal domain and contribute their best for the betterment of public health.
Numerous pharmacists of Senapati also attended the awareness programme.
