3 days Vibrant North East 2019 kicks off

Imphal, June 20 2019:
Indian Council of Food & Agriculture Delhi in association with Central Agricultural University (CAU) kicked off the three-days Vibrant North East 2019 at CAU, Iroisemba today.
The event was formally inaugurated by CAU Vice Chairman, Professor M Premjit.
Speaking on the occasion, CAU VC, Prof Premjit said that owing to the absence of big industries in the North East region, 80 percent of the population are engaged in agriculture and allied activities.
He said that, for the North East States to develop, people should start focusing on agro based industries and the three days Vibrant North East 2019 event is being organised with a view to promote this approach in Manipur and the entire North East region.

Conveying that more than thousands of farmers gather for the event, the VC went on to state that the event also aims to increase farmers' income and exploring new strategies in other allied activities.
He stressed on the need to provide recommendations from such conference to all the State Governments of the North East States.
Maintaining that farmers, despite providing bountiful production, lacks cold storage, warehouse, processing unit etc, he underlined the importance of State Government, stakeholders and farmers to come and work together in focusing on the scope of investment and growth.
More than 20 stalls are being set up for the event and more than 500 farmers from different districts witnessed the event.
