Lorho urges CM to approach UNDP, Japan

Imphal, May 20 2021: Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze has urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to approach the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Japan for availing medical oxygen plants.

In a letter on May 12, Dr Pfoze said when enquired about possible assistance, he was told that the Government of Japan may provide assistance if the State Government writes to the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi.

In light of the country facing an oxygen crisis, D Pfoze said he is concerned about the lives of the people in the far flung areas of hills, the District Hospitals, community health centres and healthcare workers serving in those areas.

The Government of Japan and the UNDP have already promised to instal oxygen plants and provide other aids to the North East region, he said and appealed Chief Minister N Biren Singh to approach the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi and the UNDP.
