Imphal, April 20 2022: The Directorate of Health Services has issued a last warning to violators of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945 and instructed them to rectify their erring practices immediately to avoid being penalised.

A notification issued by N Rimotkumar Meetei.

State Drugs Controller, Directorate of Health Services said that joint inspections were carried out recently by Drug Inspector of the Directorate and members of Manipur State Pharmacy Council at various pharmaceutical sale premises in Imphal East, namely, Porompat near JNIMS Hospital, Ayangpalli, Pong Lambi and Lamlong.

During the course of these inspections, many defects and discrepancies such as unauthorized sale of medicine, wholesale premises practising retail sale, bad storage conditions, combination of grocery items in the pharmacies, invalid license etc were found, which are in violation of the Drug and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945.The notification added that the warning must be complied by all stakeholders operating in different parts of the State.
