Many hold protest demanding unconditional release of village volunteers

Thoubal, December 19 2024: Many organisations across Thoubal district staged protest against the gunning down of a teenager by security force at Salungpham in Thoubal and the arrest of six other village volunteers today.

COCOMI Student's Front (AMSU, DESAM, KSA, SUK, AIMS) in a protest held at YK College, Wangjing has condemned the killing of a student, Laishram Prem and the arrest of six village volunteers by security force.

During the protest, students raised slogans like "We condemn killing of village volunteers", "We condemn Salungpham incident", "Repeal AFSPA, 1958 immediately", "Release the arrested village volunteers immediately" .

Meanwhile, condemning the Salungpham firing incident, Khekman Wangmataba Mayai Leikai Apunba Nupi Lup held a torch rally at Khekman yesterday.

During the torch rally, protesters raised slogans like "We condemn the arrest of village volunteers", "We condemn killing civilians", "Long Live Manipur", "Protect the territorial integrity of Manipur".

Amid the crisis in the State, arresting and killing of village volunteers by the police personnel is unfortunate and condemned at strongest term, stated the protesters.
