AR foils cross border trafficking

Chandel, December 19 2021:
Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border trafficking of areca nuts near Khubung Khullen village, Chandel district on December 17 .
During border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles observed a huge quantity of bags stacked in a concealed location near Khubung Khullen village, said a statement of IGAR(S) .
On thorough search of the area, 1600 Kg of banned areca nuts assessed to be worth Rs 8.8 Lakh were recovered in 20 bags.
The recovered contraband items were handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Pallel for further legal action.
Moreover, Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles also foiled cross border narcotics trafficking near Govajang village, Moreh, Tengnoupal district on December 16 and recovered 2.7 Kg of suspected heroin assessed to be worth Rs 10.7 crore in 220 soap cases.
The seized narcotics were handed over to Moreh Police Station for further legal action.
