Tengnoupal, December 19 2018:
AH-1 (Asian Highway 1) Land Affected Owners, while interacting with media persons, has alleged that they are yet to receive their compensation money which is about Rs 1,97,38,776, as the former DC of Tengnoupal in collusion with Manager of MRB, Tengnoupal Branch have not released the said amount.
The compensation money was meant for disbursal to affected land owner of Tengnoupal and Chamol area along Imphal-Moreh road which were affected by the road expansion work as part of Asian Highway 1 (AH-1) development project.
In a press meet held at Tengnoupal, one of the affected land owner Daniel Mate alleged that they had received the first phase payment of the compensation money with 10% less of the actual amount after signing the Actual Payment Receipt (APR) and the second phase payment of the compensation money with 20% less of actual amount without signing the APR.
He further alleged that a large sum of Rs 1,97,38,776 which is meant for disbursal to 12 others affected land owners, as part of second phase payment of compensation money, was found diverted to another personal account in place of the account of the affected land owners.
He, therefore, urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and take appropriate action against those involved in the wrongdoing.
He further drew the attention of the authority concerned to the injustices meted out to land owners of about 20 houses which were badly affected by the AH-1 expansion work as the process of compensation work has not been initiated yet.
He also cautioned the authority concerned to pay out the remaining compensation before January 5, 2019 failing which they will impose indefinite bandh & blockade along Imphal-Moreh road (NH-102) from the next day onwards and will put blanket ban on the ongoing development project taken up by NHIDCL.
