Construction works banned at disputed areas

Imphal, November 19 2021: The Joint Protection Committee for Unoccupied Land at Chingkham Area has put a ban on all forms of construction works in disputed areas of Lilong Chingkham Ching.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at a joint meeting which attended by representatives from various CSOs of the State including AMMOCOC, MMWO, UMMWDO, MCM, AMMSO, AMMDC, Anjuman Islahi Mohshira, PFI, PSO, AITI, AIIC, MFS and Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation at Lilong Turel Ahanbi Multipurpose Community Hall today.

The meeting also condemned the acts of Manipur Police against the villagers of Lilong Chingkham Ching area and accused the Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) of trying to project the Meitei Pangal community as trying to disrupt peace and harmony amongst various communities.

The meeting also resolved to expand Lilong Chingkham Maya Development Organisation and renamed it as the Joint Protection Committee for Unoccupied Land at Chingkham Area.

Notably, at least eight individuals were reportedly injured and fifteen houses destroyed in a scuffle between local people and police at Lilong Chingkham Ching on November 11 .
