Kpi celebrates Cooperative Week

Kangpokpi, November 19 2017:
As part of the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration, Kangpokpi District today celebrated cooperative week under the theme "Empowering the people through digitalization cooperatives" withthetopic "Cooperative for disadvantages and economically weaker sections".
The event was jointly organized by Manipur State Cooperative Union, Lamphelpat, Imphal and District Cooperative Officer, Kangpokpi.
Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills, Haokholal Hangshing who attended the event as chief guest hoisted the Cooperative flag and lit candles along with the dignitaries to mark the celebration.
Thanjakam Misao, Vice Chairman ADC Sadar Hills and Irom Iboyaima, CO, Manipur State Cooperative Union and O Jiten, District Cooperative Officer Kangpokpi attended the event as important dignitaries.
Earlier on November 14, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, Nemcha Kipgen had inaugurated the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration, 2017 at Laishram Leirak Community Hall, organised by Manipur State Cooperative
Union in collaboration with Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur and District Cooperative Officer, Imphal West.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing said that Manipur cooperative society was once very active and functioning well rendering immense contribution towards the economically challenged sections of the society.
He furthers that the contribution of co-operative society were immense and the Manipur State Cooperative Bank had given various loan to farmers of Kangpokpi.
But, it has gradually declined some years back and is now in a state of failure he asserted.
Haokholal Hangsing further urged people to extend support and co-operation to co-operative societies hinting that it will maximize the functioning of the society and improve the economic conditions of the people.
CO, Manipur State Cooperative Union, Irom Iboyaima, stressed on the importance of initiatives like digital awareness campaigns, digital transaction.
District Cooperative Office, Kangpokpi, O Jiten said that Cooperative has a huge network and play an important role towards the Indian economy, rural credit, fisheries, storage, labor, consumer, housing, fertilizer marketing, etc.
He furthers that various economic grievances of the hill districts could be addressed through cooperative society with the cooperation of the people.
