Security forces arrest UG cadres

Imphal, August 19 2015:
Based on a reliable information, a team of Imphal west district police commando conducted a search operation at some suspected houses in Khurai Chaithabi Leirak and arrested an active member of KCP on August 18, said a statement issued by the PRO, Police Department, Imphal.
The apprehendee has been identified as Lukhram Johny Meitei (24), s/o Lukhram Biramani Meitei of Moreh Turel Wangma, ward No 7, presently residing at Khurai Chaithabi Leirak.
Upon his disclosure, one 9mm pistol along with 3 live rounds and other incriminating articles were seized from a rented house of M Nabakesho Meitei of Khurai Nandeibam Leikai on the same day.
The apprehendee also revealed that he had collected huge amount of money from Imphal East area for fund raising purpose.
A case has been registered at Porompat police station for further investigation.
A combined team of Bishnupur district police commando, 2 Jakli and 34 Assam Rifles conducted a search operation at Naranseina Mayai Leikai and apprehended one KYKL member on August 13, added the statement.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Salam Kamraj Singh alias Naobi (40), s/o S Chandra Singh of Naranseina Mayai Leikai.
A case has been registered at Moirang police station for further investigation.
In another operation on August 13, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commando and 2/5 GR conducted a search operation at Bishnupur Bazar and arrested one KYKL member.
The arrested individual has been identified as Pukhrambam Bimol Singh alias Naobi (28), s/o P Koijomba Singh of Wangoo Sabal Mayai Leikai, said the statement.
A case has been registered at Bishnupur police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, based on specific intelligence regarding movement of the UG cadres, troops of the Assam Rifles launched operations in different part of Manipur and apprehended one PREPAK, one NSCN (K) and one UNLF cadre in the last 48 hours.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), in first operation, troops of the 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation and apprehended one PREPAK cadre on 18 Aug.
The apprehendee was identified as Khangembam Bipin Singh (24) S/o Manglemba of Khongjom, and staying at present at Kakching.
The apprehendee was handed over to the Kakching Police Station.
In another operation, a NSCN (K) cadre was apprehended by troops of the 20 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR(S) from Tuisimi area today.
He is identified as Mayanglangbam Malemba (58) S/o (L) M Mani Chand of Khukarthil, Pallel, Chandel district.
The apprehendee was handed over to the Kakching Police Station.
In yet another operation, troops of the 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Thoubal Police Commandos established a joint vehicle check post in general area of Yairipok market and apprehended one UNLF cadre on Aug 18 .
The apprehendee is identified as No- 654 (Batch No 13th), SS Sgt, Yengkhom Anandajit alias Palem Ngakpa alias Kengba alias James S/o (L) Y Tomba of Pallel Mamang Leikai near Laimayai.
He revealed that he had laid ambush against BSF at Kwakta in 2001 and he had come to Yairipok to carry out recce of locations for placing IEDs.
The apprehendee has been handed over to the Yairipok Police Station, the PRO statement said.
