Minority Rights Day 2024 observed

Imphal, December 18 2024:
Writers' Union Imphal and United Meetei Pangal Committee (UMPC) observed Minority Rights Day 2024 at Manipur Press Club today.
The event was graced by Professor Md Abdul Sattar Singh, Principal, Lilong Haoreibi College as the chief guest; Dr Syed Ahmed, Associate Professor and Alhaj Moulana Muheiyuddin Phundreimayum, president, UMPC Manipur as the presidents and SM Sheikh, advisor Writers' Union, Imphal as the guest of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, Raees Ahmed Tampak, general secretary, UMPC said that India has observed Minority Rights Day for approximately 20 years.
The religious minorities of the country namely Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis collectively celebrate the day to safeguard the rights of minority communities.
The UMPC secretary also went on to speak about the benefits provided by various ministries of the Central Government to minorities as well as the empowerment and upliftment of minorities.
