BBU conducts social work

Barak Brothers' Union (BBU), a mass body of Barak Circle people conducted social work at Jiri bam to Tipaimukh road, the only lifeline of Barak Circle people under Jiribam Assembly Constituency and also one of the most important road of Tipaimukh A/C, our correspondent reports.
The social work which began from the gateway of Murbung tea-garden continued for a stretch of 32 kms.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of social work D Lomsang Hmar, general secretary, BBU said Jiribam-Tipaimukh road is in the most deplorable condition.
Memorandum demanding immediate repair of the road were served to the PWD Minister, local MLA Th Debendra Singh and the Chief Minister on Dec 16, 2014, with no positive response till date.
In 2012-13, the PWD blacktopped the said road but the same wore off in just three months.
Besides, there are 10 bridges along the road left unattended by the authorities concerned.
The people of Barak Circle had attempted to repair the bridge in their own limited ways without much success, Lomsang added.
Vanlalhriet Hmar, general secretary, Barak Circle Development Demand Committee (BCDDC) said the social work was conducted with funds collected as donation from Government employees, taxi drivers, auto drivers and others.
At least five road mishaps and several other cases of vehicular glitches have occurred on the road owing to the poor condition of the road.
Highlighting the pathetic conditions of hospitals and other Government offices in Barak Circle, the BBU members have appealed the State Government to look into the grievances of the people immediately.
