Imphal, November 18 2015:
All Manipur Vodafone Landowners and Caretaker Association said it will launch a cease work strike from November 23 to demand a raise in wage.
Altogether 51 vodafone towers have been erected all over the State since 2007, association member W Babu said at a press meet today.
These towers are operated from Shija Communication Private Limited, Palace Compound.
Demanding pay increase, W Babu said the average pay of a caretaker at these towers are merely Rs 3000 which are barely enough to make ends meet.
The pay scale of caretakers are remarkably low given the long working hours, Babu maintained.
Vodafone authorities have been notified of the grievances through a written complaint on October 5 .
A general body meeting was held later on October 24 wherein the association resolved to provide the authorities 45 days time to address their demand.
With no poistive response from the authorities till date, the association is set to launch cease work strike from November 23 .
The association member W Babu said the strike will largely impact the functioning of the network.
