Imphal, October 18 2012: A residential house at Leishokching in Chandel district was completely destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out at around 6.10 am today.

The estimated loss in the fire is said to be around Rs 6 lakh.

The gutted wooden house belonged to one K.Beruchung Tarao of Leishokching village.

Although fire brigade team from Kakching came, they could not save the house for turning into ashes.

However, the fire fighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring houses.

On hearing about the incident, a team of Pallel Police Station led by O.C..AKhelandro rushed in to the spot to take stock of the situation.

According to family members, the fire might have broke out from a faulty switch connecting to a television set which was kept on on-mode.

The family members are currently taking shelter at Leishokching Primary School.

The properties which have been lost in the fire included gold ornaments, Rs 50,000 in case, important documents and 50 herbal bottle medicines.
