State level conference held

The High Court of Manipur in association with Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised "One Day State Level Conference on Key Challenges on Effective Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015" today at Court No 6, High Court of Manipur.
The conference was presided by Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA/ Chairman, JJ Committee, High Court of Manipur.
The conference was attended by representatives of different Govt departments/stakeholders - Social Welfare Dept, Home Dept, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Childline, Manipur Judicial Academy etc.
The conference was organised in continuation of the State Level Conference held on July 30 and the conclusions arrived at the Fifth Round Table Conference on Juvenile Justice Issues held on August, 4 at Guwahati which discussed the "Key Challenges" faced by the different stakeholders in the Effective Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in the State.
The conference discussed Organizing Training/Sensitization of CWPO, Special Protocols for children travelling outside the State to prevent trafficking of children at the State exit points viz -Airport, Mao Gate, Moreh & Jiribam, Feasibility assessment for accommodating CCLs in the existing child homes where there are no Observation Homes, Consultation with ADCs/ Village Authorities for bridging the gap between Customary Law and JJ Act, POCSO Act and other general laws, Activation of Legal Literacy Clubs to reach out to school children for increased awareness and Putting up of hoarding of Childline at Airport and other State Exit points.
The conference resolved that the steps are to be implemented jointly by the stakeholders which includes HC, MASLSA, Social Welfare Dept, Home Dept, JJBs, CWCs, Childline etc.
Next State Level Meeting will be held on September 22, said a statement of MSLSA.
