Imphal, May 18 2016:
Volunteers of Kangleipak Student Association
(KSA) have locked down the office of the Department of Education
(S) decrying its order to appoint upper primary, primary and graduate
teachers on marks basis without conducting a competitive examina-
tion.
Speaking to media persons, KSA secretary general Sukham
Bidyananda said the Department of Education (S) in its notice issued
on May 11 declared that the selection of upper primary, primary and
graduate teachers will be held on marks basis.
The association strongly
condemn the order, Bidyananda said.
He urged the Education (S)
Department to conduct competitive test on concerned subjects for the
appointment.
KSA was impelled to launch the agitation after the De-
partment failed to rectify the order, the body's general secretary said.
Citing the differences in marking system between CBSE and State
Board and Council, the student body opined that selection based on
marks would be unfair for the candidates.
The announcement for recruitment of large number of pri-
mary, upper primary and graduate teachers at a time when the
State is warming up for the Assembly elections makes one
question whether or not all the arrangements are made to secure
vote bank, Bidyananda asserted.
He urged the State Government
keep politics out of education sector.
