Womenfolk continue to protest against President's Rule

Imphal, February 18 2025:
Standing firm against the arrest of village volunteers, womenfolk of Top Dusara Khabam and Imphal staged a sit-in protest today demanding revocation of President's Rule.
The protest was held at Top Awang Leikai Market Shed.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Chanam Kunjalata, secretary, Top Moirangkampu Dusara Awang Leikai Mahila Mandal Meira Paibi highlighted the collective of Top Dusara meira paibis' demand for lifting of President's Rule from the State of Manipur.
She also called for the setting up of a competent Government to ensure that people are not deprived of their rights.
Stating that the public wishes to live under a proper State administration, she firmly asserted that the people are strongly against President's Rule.
On another note, she also denounced poppy cultivation and urged the Central Forces to destroy such plantations in the State.
Additionally, on behalf of the protesters, she decried the efforts of both Central and State forces to arrest village volunteers whose dedicated and selfless service have ensured protection of the lives and properties of the people in vulnerable areas.
The protestors wielded placards with messages such as "Stop poppy cultivation in Manipur", "Save the indigenous people ofManipur", "Take stringent action against Kuki MLAs seeking to disintegrate Manipur" and "We oppose PR in Manipur" among others.
