A Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the alleged abduction and killing of an elderly Meitei couple at Leimatak area has urged the State Government to handover their mortal remains to the family members within three days.
The JAC against the brutal killing of Pukhrambam Birchandra (75) and Pukhrambam (Ongbi) Pishakmacha (72) was formed today during a public meeting held at Ningthoukhong.
Three resolutions were subsequently passed during the meeting.
As per the resolutions, the JAC urged the Government to i) handover the mortal remains of the elderly Meitei couple who hailed from Ningthoukhong Ward No 2 to their family members within three days, ii) arrest the suspected Kuki militants involved in the alleged incident and ensure that they get stringent punishment and iii) in case the two aforementioned demands are not fulfilled within the stipulated time, then to launch various forms of agitations in association with local clubs and CSOs.
RK Sachi was appointed as the convenor of the JAC; Irengbam Newton, Pukhrambam Ibochouba, Kangabam Tomba, Ningthoujam Samson, Moirangthem Boboy, T Bina and H Sumila as co-convenors and Thingom Sushinikumar as legal advisor.
