Imphal, August 17 2020:
Yenning Animal Foundation (YAF) has asked the State Government to keep at least one grazing field in each district of Manipur.
Speaking to media persons, chairperson of YAF, Sapna Laishram said that rapid urbanisation has forced stray animals to depend mostly on dumped leftovers for survival as there are not much grazing grounds present in the State, today.
Saying that many of these animals even died of food poisoning after consuming garbage, she added that one pregnant cow also collapsed today near Checkon Traffic Island due to food poisoning.
The cow, however, was saved due to timely intervention of YAF, Dog Lovers Club and Manipur Police, Sapna stated.
Saying that grazing space for animals is dwindling each passing day due to constant construction of industries, schools, colleges and sundries, Sapna said that Government intervention is much required to save ponies and other animals which are at the receiving end of human civilization.
She also stated that no response has been received from the Government side about the memorandum submitted to ban dogs killing in the State.
