As reported earlier, the Joint Action Committee for Unnatural Death of Amom Rajen Singh will impose a 24 hour bandh starting from 5 am of October 17 till 5 am of October 18 against the government's failure to meet the demands of the JAC.
According to the JAC, the bandh is being imposed as the government has failed to meet its five charters of demand that stated in the memorandum which was submitted to the chief minister on October 5 .
In the memorandum the JAC had stated that it would take up intense agitations in case the government fails to meet its demands within five days from the date of submission of the memorandum.
The five charter of demands of the JAC includes - to conduct a special inquiry, to book the culprits and fitting punishment to be given to those involved in the killing, ex-gratia to be given to the deceased's family, to consult West Bengal government in the case and to provide a government's job to one of the deceased's family.
The JAC informed that during the bandh, religious ceremonies, water supply, fire brigade and medical services will be exempted from the purview.
