MCPCR settles two RTE cases

Imphal, May 14 2013:
For the first time after its institution, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has settled two cases pertaining to Right to Education Act.
The first case was registered by Phurailatpam Sharat Chandra Sharma as the complainant, while the Principal of RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Pangei was the respondent.
The Commission disposed the case after being heard that Principal H Nobinchand made a lapse on his part to speak against the Right to Education Act, and further directed him to give training on RTE to all the teachers and staffs of the school.
In the second case, Kakchingtabam Ongbi Sophia, w/o K Geetchandra Sharma of Thongju Waikhom Khongnang Part-II was the complainant, while the Principal of Catholic School, Canchipur, Fr George Baite was the respondent.
The complainant Sophia filed the case in connection with expulsion of her son Udoi Sharma (Class VII) from the Catholic School.
After hearing the testimonies of both the complainant and respondent, the Commission disposed the case with the direction that the Principal of Catholic School should immediately issue transfer certificate to Udoi Sharma who did not want to continue in the school and also to refund his tuition fee from May to December, which was paid in advance.
