One killed in accident, locals block road

Bishnupur, March 14 2018: An individual was killed by a Speeding Diesel Auto-rickshaw in Bishnupur district yesterday.

The individual identified as Sorokhaibam Oken Singh (39) s/o (L) S Thambou Singh was out on Ithai IB Road (near Ithai Bazar) with a; friend for a walk after dinner at around 9 pm when the speeding diesel auto-rickshaw rammed into him and killed him on the spot.

The auto-driver fled the scene leaving behind the vehicle bearing licence plate no MN01R0405.Kumbi Police has picked up the vehicle involved and has registered a case, said our correspondent.

People in large today morning blocked Ithai IB Road and Ithai Nongmaikhong Road condemning the incident.

Oken Singh was a small shopkeeper and also worked as mistry.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter, said president of Win Club Ithai.

The people and family members warned that they will not claim the body of the deceased and stop bandh till the driver involved is caught and punished.
