Thang-Ta workshop concludes

A valedictory ceremony to mark the close of the10-day Thang-Ta Workshop cum Training Camp organised by Thang-Ta Loisang, Sana Konung was held at Palace Compound Community Hall today.
It may be noted that the 10-day camp commenced from the 14th of this month.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Rajya Sabha MP and titular king of Manipur, Leisemba Sanajaoba as the chief guest; Thingbaijam Ibohalbi, member, Thang-Ta Loisang as the president of the function and Thokchom Ibungohal, custom secretary, Sana Konung as the guest of honour.
Leisemba Sanajaoba fleshed out the two goals of the 10-day camp stating that the first was to gain knowledge about the artform from Thang-Ta teachers.
The second was to infuse youths of today with a sense of patriotism along with ensuring that they maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Adding that students who participated in the workshop were lucky, he recalled the olden times when Thang-Ta students had to go to the teachers' house in order to learn the martial art form.
However, this workshop has provided students with the opportunity to learn from the most eminent teachers within the premises of Sana Konung, he asserted.
The RS MP also said that a strict sense of adherence to manners and social etiquette has been observed among students of Thang-Ta and Nat Sankirtan and as such expressed the need for everyone to learn Thang-Ta.
The Thang-Ta teachers were honoured during the course of the event with the offering of a scarf and simple gifts.
Certificates of recognition were also awarded to around 40 students who participated in the workshop.
