Govt understands people's sentiment, says Karam Shyam at Singju Festival

The Government understands the sentiment of the people and is working on the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 issue at all level to keep Manipur out of the purview of the Bill, said Karam Shyam, Revenue Minister.
He was speaking at the 4th Singju Festival which begun today at Sangaithel Park in Imphal West.
The festival is being organised by Singju Festival Committee of the Singju Yokhatpa Lup.
The festival will end on January 22.Speaking at the inaugural event, Karam Shyam assured that the State Government is doing its best to safeguard the people.
He said that a team of Ministers led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh is in New Delhi to pressure the Home Minister and other leaders to get the President's assent to the Manipur People Bill.
He said that the Government is with the people on the CAB 2016 issue and is 'against' the Bill.
It may be mentioned that the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was passed on January 8 in the Lok Sabha in where the BJP enjoys majority.
People in the North-East States have been protesting the Bill fearing mass influx of foreigners.
Singju Festival Committee chairman Khoirom Loyalakpa and Art & Culture Director Aribam Sivadash Sharma attended the event.
Renowned singer Ningombam Tomba, singer and dancer Thokchom Lansana Chanu performed at the event.
