Memorandum submitted

All Assam Manipur Students' Union (AAMSU), Committee on People Environment (COPE), Society for Activities and Forest and Environment (SAFE) and Rural Development Institution submitted a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Assam Gokul Mohan Hazarika yesterday regarding Tipaimukh dam construction.
The memorandum informed the PM that the construction of Tipaimukh dam over Barak and Tuivai rivers would cause difficulties to the people of Manipur, Assam and Tripura.
The construction would submerge around 27247 acres of farmland of eight villages under Barak valley and 90 acres of land of Tamenglong district under water.
Moreover, the worship site of Meetei deities Lainingthou and Leimarel in Khwairakpa Irel island would also be submerged, the memorandum added.
