Assam Rifles flags off National Integration Tour for Meira Paibis

In an inspiring initiative to promote National integration and foster cultural exchange, the Assam Rifles flagged off a ten days "National Integration Tour" on Wednesday.
The tour is being organised under the aegis of IGAR (South) exclusively for 34 Meira Paibis from different districts of the Imphal valley.
As part of this tour, the participants will visit Kolkata, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
According to a release issued by HQ IGAR (South), the National Integration Tour, being conducted under Operation Sadbhavana, will provide Meira Paibis a unique opportunity to orient themselves with developments across India and to interact with people from different regions of the country.
The tour was flagged-off from the Assam Rifles Garrison at Mantripukhri in the presence of distinguished women from Manipur like Thumplin Monsang, Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women; R K Meme Devi, retired Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer; retired Judge A Noutuneshwari Devi and Sushma Phurailatpam, Assistant Professor in Imphal College.
The event was also graced by the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) and Navjeet Kaur, regional president, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA) .
Addressing the gathering, The IG AR (South) highlighted the pivotal role of Meira Paibis in shaping the Manipuri society and underscored the significance of initiatives like the National Integration Tour towards restoration of peace and harmony.
T Monsang highlighted the importance of engaging women in peace processes and social reformation.
She appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for engaging the women of Manipur and for providing them the much needed avenue to venture out and explore other parts of the Nation.
Navjeet Kaur handed over the Tour Flag' and wished the participants a fruitfill and satisfying journey.
During the tour, the Meira Paibis visit iconic historical sites, national monuments and Temples, offering deeper understanding of India's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
They will interact with dignitaries such as the Governor of Gujarat, Army Commander, Eastern Command and General Officer Commanding at Gandhinagar.
These interactions will buttress the role of Meira Paibis as ambassadors of unity.
The National Integration Tour by Assam Rifles stands as a testament to the organisation's determination to strengthen peace, unity and women empowerment.
Apart from combating insurgency, the Assam Rifles has been on the forefront of such initiatives and has established a strong bond with the state of Manipur.
