Moirang body appeals for security arrangement

Bishnupur, November 11 2024: The Moirang Kendra Apunba Loumee Shinmi Amasung Nupi Lup has appealed the State Government to make adequate security arrangements to safeguard the paddyfields and farmers working at Phubala, Naranseina, Thamnapokpi, Ngangkhalawai, Tronglaobi, Terakhongshangbi, Kwakta Torenmapan and Torbung Saiton in Bishnupur district.

The appeal was made in light of the killing of an innocent woman by suspected Kuki militants while she was working in the paddyfield at Wathalambi Loukol under Kumbi Assembly Constituency on November 9 .

The deceased who hails from Wathalambi Santipur, Saiton Gram Panchayat under Phougakchao Ikhai police station, leaves behind three children, one girl and two boys, and her husband.

The press note issued by M Manglem Singh, secretary, Moirang Kendra Apunba Loumee Shinmi Amasung Nupi Lup also highlighted the plight of the farmers who have been demanding their due compensation from the State Government and this recent attack which has placed farmers and their paddyfields in potential danger.
