TPR rises again; two die, 292 newly infected

Imphal, September 11 2021: Though the state witnessed slight dip in test positivity rate in the last few days, the rate picked up on Saturday as government bulletins reported 292 new positive cases out of 3229 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 9.04 per cent against Friday's 6.77 per cent.

Meanwhile, State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported two Covid-19 deaths.

Both were residents of Imphal West district and none of them have had taken Covid vaccine.

The cumulative number of deaths in the state has reached 1809.Though the positivity rate remains in single digit, Kamjong district recorded very high rate of 27.8 per cent while Tamenglong (19.4 per cent), Imphal West (13.9 per cent), Kakching (12.7 per cent) and Ukhrul (11.3 per cent) recorded slightly lower double digit positivity rate.

The active caseload rose to 2847 out of which 682 (23.96 per cent) are in home isolation, 961 (33.75 per cent) in CHICs, 713 (25.04 per cent) in CCCs and 491 (17.25 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 98 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 138 are on oxygen support and 33 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 174, 21 and 7 patients respectively.

At the same time, 6 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday evening, 553 beds including 106 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals and 2673 in Covid Care Centres.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening, there were 333 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 87,499 positive cases and 1435 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 2966 new cases and 27 fatalities out of which 1822 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 292 new positive cases included 288 people (137 male, 151 female) from among the general population and 4 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

The positive cases were confirmed during tests at RIMS (4), JNIMS (30) and other testing centres (258).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (40), Imphal West (150), Thoubal (6), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (9), Ukhrul (14), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (2), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (19), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (10) and Kangpokpi (5) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 212 patients were discharged from home isolation (96), RIMS (3), JNIMS (9), CCCs (71) and CHICs (33) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,16,899 (general population - 1,12,728 and CAPF personnel - 4,171) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,12,243 (general population - 1,08,116 and CAPF personnel - 4,127) and number of active cases is 2,847 (general population - 2,808 and CAPF personnel - 39).The recovery rate is 96.02 per cent.

In the last 244iours, 1270 D-type and 281 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 5934 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,99,970 out of which 3,90,850 people are fully vaccinated.

As of Friday, 92,485 individuals who are eligible for second doses are yet to get the second shot of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, five new positive cases were detected out of 53 samples tested in Kakching district on Saturday.

One case was detected at government RAT site, one at Jivan Hospital and three at Ema Hospital.

One is from Ukhrul district and the remaining four are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,773), Imphal East (25,882), Thoubal (9220), Churachandpur (9871), Kangpokpi (2680), Tamenglong (3226), Bishnupur (8862), Senapati (2128), Ukhrul (2491), Kakching (6277), Chandel (2209), Noney (1052), Tengnoupal (1020), Jiribam (1012), Kamjong (771) and Pherzawl (425).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (599), Imphal East (428), Thoubal (166), Churachandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (184), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney 14}, Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,673 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,802 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,02,018 tests per million population against the national average of 3,86,916 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3229 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.04 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.37 per cent.
