Grievances of college students highlighted

Imphal, August 11 2021: A joint meeting of secretaries of students union of various colleges in the State was held yesterday and new office bearers of Co-ordinating Committee of Colleges Student Union Manipur (COCOSUM) were appointed.

In a press release, COCOSUM said that the meeting was attended by representatives of students union of Biramangol College, Naorem Birahari College, Modern College, Liberal College, GP Women's College, DM Arts, Kakching Khunou College, Kha Manipur College, Thambal Marik College, L Sanoi College, YK College, Thoubal College, Oriental College and Mayai Lambi College.

The meeting also took various resolutions which are as follows -

To urge the Government to provide quality education by rationalization of teachers, students and subjects in a college to attain 'Equity with Justice', to open more recent and apt UG and PG courses in various colleges of the State and to address the issue of shortage of teaching and non teaching staff.

The union also sought the Government's attention to appoint regular principals in the Govt and aided colleges at the earliest where there are no regular principals.

To address the issue of students of Dhanamanjuri University students since there is no proper faculty and authority officers.

Further the union also appealed to all concerned to release the pending scholarships for MOBC/SC/ST and to return some amount of examination fees for 5 th semester students under DM university or adjust the same while filling up forms for 6th semester examination in the interest of the students.
