A week long observation as a part of the International Youth Day 2014 under the theme, 'Youth and Mental Health' will be held from tomorrow upto August 22. The observance will be jointly organized by Manipur AIDS Control Society and Red Ribbon Club for the Red Ribbon Colleges.
Manipur State AIDS Control Society Project Director Dr SK Chourasia in a press conference held at his office chamber today noon, said that the weeklong observation is being organized to create awareness among the youth of the society with a preference to the students of college and University levels and understand, share the views and knowledge and views about AIDS.
He also said that under this topic and theme, various competitions would be held during the weeklong observance.
Apart from deliberating on the topics like, 'Youth need of awareness about HIV', 'Youth difficulties to talk about HIV', 'Youth and Social Stigma', 'Depicting Spread of HIV', 'Peer pressure and drugs and difficulties in disclosure of HIV status', a message oriented film on HIV would also be screened, he added.
Different competitions will be held in four categories which include short film, audio visual, radio features and jingle regarding the topic and themes, he said.
The first to third place holders of the competitions will be send to Delhi to participate in the national level competition to be held on later part of this year, he said The week-long observation will be held at the various colleges, which are affiliated to Red Ribbon Club.
The opening function of the observation will be held at GP Women's College with a pledge and the closing ceremony will be held at Manipur University on August 22. Voluntary blood donation camp will be held during the week long observation, he said.
