A confrontation occurred between two registered committees of Kumbi Awang High School, Kumbi, Bishnupur over the functioning of the school as a private school.
Kumbi Awang High School, established in 1960 as a LP school was upgraded to UJB in 1966 and subsequently to High school in 1970 and was recognized by Assam Board as a private school.
The then Kumbi Girls High School changed its name to Kumbi Awang High School, a co-ed private school in 1984 after it was recognized as a private school by the Manipur Board in 1983 .
Kumbi Awang High School Development Committee, a body of the school registered under reg no 27 (2002-03) of the Registered of Societies Manipur tried to revive the private school after it deteriorate in the past four-five years, reports our correspondent.
Another committee by the same name, registered in 2017, allegedly opposed the functioning of the school under the previously registered committee and the school's functioning as a private institution, reports our correspondent.
Headmaster of the school, Kh Debendra Singh alleged that the ZEO Bishnupur had notified not to function the school as a private.
He said that he was surprised by the order of the ZEO while adding that the order has no logic since the school itself is a private school.
The Headmaster urged the concerned authorities and individuals that the high school be free from any disturbances in its functioning and serving the community.
He also urged concerned authorities of the Government to look into the matter and solve the issue.
Founder, former Headmaster of the school and former assistant secretary of the school development committee, N Budhichandra Singh appealed concerned authorities of the Govt and others not to hinder the functioning of the school as the academic session of the school has been scheduled to begin from January 18 .
