Senapati, September 10 2020:
The Maram Women Union (MWU) has strongly condemned the "communally derogatory" remark made by one non-tribal person against the tribal community.
In a statement, MWU stated that the defamatory Facebook post uploaded by one Wangkhemcha Wangthoi 'targeting' Maram women is unacceptable and communal.
The derogatory post tarnishes the sanctity of the tribal women in general and the Maram women in particular, it said.
The MWU in its emergency meeting held on September 8 2020 has demanded the State Government to take stern action against the accused Wangkhemcha Wangthoi for his racist remark.
"If the Government of Manipur fails to take actions against Wangkhemcha by September 20, the MWU will be forced to take befitting actions and the MWU shall not be held responsible for the consequences," it warned.
Going through his social media profile, Wangkhemcha Wangthoi, who claims to be a anchor/Journalist/teacher is a habitual offender, which is unfortunate for someone with his degree and competence continues to instigate communal tensions in social media, it stated.
